Importing VMware vCenter 8.0 U3i as a Workload Domain into VCF 9.1
The following steps go through importing a standalone vSphere 8.0 U3i environment. This is a 3 node vSAN ESA cluster, the vCenter Server appliance resides in the cluster that is being imported. The environment does not have an NSX cluster. I’ve reserved IP addresses and DNS names for the cluster deployment. From VCF Operations console >> Inventory >> select the VCF Instance and to the right you will see an option to ‘Add Workload Domain’ and finally ‘Import a vCenter
Name the Domain
Provide the information for external vCenter
If the authentication is successful, you should see a prompt for the vCenter thumbprint and IP address (not shown)
The next step is populating NSX cluster deployment
Although I selected ESXi Management VMkernal to be used for Overlay, that part failed however it continued to configure it for VLAN backed.
I did previously get an error because NSX binaries for NSX 4.2.4.0.0.25410638
Deployment kicked off
The following error appeared regarding NSX configuration however the deployment completed successfully.
Browsing back to the Inventory in VCF Operations and you will find that the Domain has been imported successfully
