Patching VCF Fleet Lifecycle to 9.1.0.0400

With the release of VCF 9.1.0.0400 patch out by Broadcom for VCF 9.1.0. I will be demonstrating some steps in getting started to apply the patches using VCF Operations.

For beginners, always important to backup. I’m using an SFTP hosted on my Synology NAS for this, performing backups of my SDDC Manager and VCF Management Components. You may read more about it here; Component Backup and Restore of VMware Cloud Foundation

In addition, I’ve already upgraded the VCF Download Tool for my internal repo so that it pulls the latest metadata and binaries for the Software Depot. VCF Download Tool 9.1.0.0400 Release Notes

In the VCF Operations console under Build >> VCF Management >> Upgrade, if your instance has not been synced as of recent, you should perform a Sync, this will pull the latest data from the Software Depot.

While the sync is running, you will see Fleet Lifecycle was last upgraded to 9.1.0.0300

Once the sync completes, it should be updated with a timestamp

Now the Fleet Lifecycle will provide an Upgrade option, from the ellipses click to ‘Select Version’

There is our patch, select and click ‘Set Target Version’

Now, we are presented with an option to Upgrade to the 0400 patch for Fleet Lifecycle

During the upgrade, the staging failed, I thought initially there was an issue with my depot, I confirmed the YAML file for the latest Fleet update was in my depot, I also had successfully downloaded the 0400 patches.

The fix ended up being a reboot of the VCF Operations compliance, the upgraded completed successfully after a retry of the task.
